Konstantinos (Charlie) was born in Katerini, Greece and spent his childhood until the fifth grade like most other rural Greek children - struggling each day to help the family make ends meet. Charlie's father operated a small diner and the youngster dropped out of school after the fifth grade to help his parents. He worked in his father's diner, other restaurants and supermarkets. By 1961, he had moved to a small West German town near Bremen in the upper portion of the divided nation. He was operating a restaurant, that is where he married his wife, Maria, and they began a family. Charlie spent some of his years on Greek ships and he visited the USA three times and he liked what he saw. He had family members in Boston, Massachusetts where he proudly immigrated to on July 20, 1973. He started working at Dunkin Donuts in Webster, Mass and had the pleasure of meeting Joe Namoth. Joe was going to marry a girl in North Carolina and suggested to Charlie to go there and open a donut shop. Charlie took part of his advice and went to Greenville, NC and opened his first restaurant, "Famous Subs and Pizza" in 1980. It was a modest place with two tables and four chairs. He used cardboard boxes and taped them to windows for his advertising. From there he started up several more business in North Carolina cities such as Grifton, Edenton, Murfreesboro, Washington, New Bern, Tabor City, Fairmont, Bladenboro, Fremont, Wallace, Southport and Elizabethtown. He then finished his tour in Whiteville, NC with the first "Konstantinos Greek Italian Cuisine". He proudly brings this rich experience to support his son and his family, Theodosios (Theo), Rebecca and Konstantinos II in opening the second Konstantinos. From our family to yours, "We welcome and hope to see you there".
